The essential baby clothing items should include:
 Cloth diapers Sleepers Gowns & Saques Booties Caps (get a couple of sizes so you are prepared as the baby grows)

Cardigans Frilly Dresses Sweaters Slip on Pants Shirts (Tees and Collared) Shoes Socks Hint: Most people will buy newborn clothing, so if you are thinking ahead ask your friends to consider some clothes sizes: 3 to 6 months, 6 to 9 months, and 9 to 12 months. Then your little bundle of joy will have at least one outfit they will be able to wear until they are one year old.
